ABOUT

Who Am I?

Tasir Plant is a multi-media, fine artist from Newark, New Jersey. Inspired by the likes of Stan Lee, he used to practice the making of graphic novels, but he has grown and adapted to other media such as watercolors, ink, graphite, chalk, etc. Now a Senior at Montclair State, majoring in Visual Arts, he has grounded his focus and shifted solely towards abstraction. He predominantly uses oil colors and acrylics to tackle and encapsulate the severity of real-world issues such as dissociation, mental health, heartbreak, and societal uproar/protest.

The core of my work is meant to spread awareness and give insight into the struggles of mental health. A lot of, if not all, of my works are a direct allegory to my personal life and experiences from the past. More specifically, my work is centered around dissociation and derealization, the feeling of being stuck between this distorted world and reality. The process includes extensive studying, workshopping, brainstorming, and collaboration. I am a predominant oil painter, solely because of the blends and the manipulation of oil that makes it seamless to use. My works are usually of an average scale; however are adaptable and can work on a larger format. In the future, I am to experiment with other materials aside from oils such as plaster, collage, glass, etc.
